The modular route

Could someone please outline how you go about getting an ATPL through modular route.

What is the order?

Flying first? then
Groundschool? or vice-versa

or the best way you recommend from your experience.

Thank you!

You'll find a lot of useful info on the thread "Just a CPL?".

Assuming that you have a PPL and some hours, then usually it's best to get the written exams out of the way first, they certainly take the longest. Best of luck.

PPL, Class 1 Medical, ATPL theories, hrs build(Night, IMC, Multi), CPL and skill test, I/R and skill test. After Frozen ATPL, MCC.
You only need a class 1 med to get CPL, but get it before the theories, you could fail the medical, therefore, if you do it after the theories, they are a waste of time and money because, even if you pass the exams, all you end up with is a PPL.
The chaps at www.pilotassists.com are a font of knowledge, give them a ring.
Hope that makes sense. Good luck.

I agree with gazelle507 as to the order, the only thing that I'd mention is that for the JAR modular you don't get any credit for the UK CAA IMC rating. So, even though it's useful, it's unnecessary in the broader scheme of things (gives you more useful logbook hours though)

There is a good guide on the Leeds Flying School page that describes it in plain English. The link is http://www.leedsflyingschool.freeserve.co.uk/comme rcialpilot.pdf
