Training for Instructor - Medical Requirement?

Hi all.

I am almost finished with my CPL (hopefully testing this friday) and my instructor course is due to start next Monday.

My JAA Class 1 medical expired a little while ago, however my class 2 is still current.

Can anyone point me to the appropriate CAA document which states if it is allowed/not for me to go ahead with my instructor training, and/or CPL test before it.

Any response appreciated.

You can't do you CPL test without a class 1.

But you can do your FI with a class 2.

Don't ask me for a ref. You can hunt and search for it but thats the deal.

Thanks.

I take it you mean a current class 1?

Looks like I'll have to make some deals then. :P

If you are about to be an commercial pilot or instructor you should read the relevant material. No one here will give you the answer as you are about to become a professional aviator.

Lasors Section H1.2
Standards Document 3 - for CPL testing

You will need the JAA CPL or the JAA PPL with 150 hours PIC. So you would need the JAA class 1 medical to be current to get your JAA CPL issued so you could start the FI course unless you are going to have 150 hrs PIC. You can test without the class one being current in accordance with standards document 3.

Remeber it is no one's responsibility other than yours to ensure you meet the relevant requirements.
