when current is not 'current'
 

I hold a JAA ATPL with the following aircraft ratings; B737-300, A320 & B757 and have approximately 2,000 hours on each type, also I have kept all these ratings current from the point of view of simulator LPCs, however, because I haven't actually flown any of the types in the last 3 years I am not deemed 'current' by prospective employers, (most require a pilot to have flown an actual aircraft within the last 6-12 months) my dilemma is either to do nothing and hope for the best, or to 'buy' some flight time, to regain my ‘currency’

I know a lot has been written on this subject, but would anyone know the latest gen on who is offering this sort of flight experience, i.e. 100/200/300 hour packages.

Way I understand it, paying for hours in RHS of passenger carrying aeroplanes was reserved for excessively optimistic low timers with no scruples about using their (or borrowed) money to get ahead of the queue. Not that things have always worked out for them as they have anticipated. I have never heard of any company willing to sell hours in their aeroplanes to rated, but not current pilots and I'll be disappointed if there's any. If you, as pretty experienced pilot, succeed at buying cockpit time, this will be new T&C record low. Therefore I'm really unable to wish you good luck.

with 6000 hrs jet you should work in Nigeria on the 737 300, you probably will not get anyone to sell you hours. At least you will current, you may do well to buy a session of base training on the 737 somewher, at least you will have flown the real thing, however, you would have to do a couple of sims before they would let you do that I guess.. no .. I have no idea who might give you this, just contact soem TRTOs and find out.. you never know.
