Hour Building Stories & Recommendations

Anyone got any good hour building stories? or any recommendations on places to visit? Does anyone have any unpleasant stories on places they visited whilst hour building?

Hi,

I did my time building in miami at dean international, a school located on tamiami airport. It was awesome, i really enjoyed this trip and it really helped me once back in my country to cope with the atpl in english (as i am french).
Florida is a good state to fly over, though a bit repetitive. It is advised to go a bit further away than miami area otherwise you'll get bored very quickly. Miami is very good to fly by night, as well as the whole eastern coast. One of my unforgettable flight was from miami up to west palm beach by night where we landed to have dinner; we went back to miami at about 3.00 am the next day by flying along the seashore.

At the south of miami stand several islands called the "keys". 2 airports : key west international & maraton. These small islands are like the begining of the carribean.

All the west coast of florida is beautiful as well. You need to fly over the everglades to cross over the county, so always take care of following roads when you do that, otherwise you could be in big trouble should an engine failure occur.

Finally, at the north next to ocala is the private airport of sir J.Travolta.
But you need to know the landlord to land on it...

For the UK - visit the Scilly Isles. I accompanied an hour building friend yesterday. Stunning views and quite a challenging airfield in a cross wind.

For Denmark visit the Aero island or the surrounding airfields, were you will be able to train your landing skills on grass, plus crosswind.........
In Aero you will able to rent a Cessna150 or 172 at Starling Air, the owners are very friendly & quite professional. I definitely had a great time.............

Happy Landings!
