hi could some one show some light on pilot training in australia and could you also please advice me as to which school could i do it from.i have a couple of them in mind
TVSA,AEROSPACE AVIATION SYDNEY,BASAIR,TRISTAR
just a little bit confused so can any one help me in this regard as my requirment in CPL,COMMAND IR,MULTI ENDORSEMENT INSTRUCTOR RATING AND ATPL

Hi sam, to understand the regulatory requirements, look first at CASA's website regarding flight crew licensing:
Civil Aviation Safety Authority - Flight Crew

Before anyone can help you, answer these questions truthfully:
1. Do you just want Australia licences, or do you also need JAA ?
2. In addition, do you need further diplomas/degrees in aviation ?
3. Are you able to fund the entirety of your own training, including fees, accomodation and living ? (Don't just ask for the cheapest school.)
4. Do you prefer a flight school with other Indian students ?
5. Do you have a preferred city/location/airport due to family or friendship ties ?

I would recommend training in Melbourne rather than Sydney. Based from that, look at Tristar rather than TVSA (quite a poor reputation). Tristar look after Indian students quite well.

1 i just dont want australian license alone but a jaa atpl also
2 i have already done my three years diploma in aircraft maintenance engg and have about four and half years of aviation experience
3 yes i am able to fund close to 100000 aud on my own and if need be can arrange more i just want the best not a very cheaptraining
4 flying with other indian students is fine but not an absolute must
5 no preference what so ever

so keeping all this in mind could you suggest some good schools and what do u feel about tvsa melbourne thank you for your time and patience

Hi sam, you're welcome.

1. With the current depressed economic climate in both Oz and Europe, it is cheaper to pick either CASA or JAA but not both, depending whether you are able to work in Australia. However, if you do both in Oz, I am aware of two schools :
WA Aviation College (WAAC, well known, established school)
WELCOME TO THE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF EUROPEAN AVIATION (newer school, please research these forums)
2. You've got enough qualifications/hours, no need for uni courses.
3. No need to tell me how much you're spending; just make sure you have enough.
4. RVAC at Melbourne and Basair at Sydney have tonnes of Indian students, but not everyone approve of their methods (research these forums). Otherwise, many other schools are very international, including WAAC I mentioned above.
5. OK.

I am aware of other schools who are planning to offer JAA in the future as well but at the moment it looks like your main choice is WAAC. They have reasonably good accomodation facilities close to Jandakot Airport (I can confirm this as I have stayed in them).

Hi folk......

I've just enrolled myself with TRISTAR AVIATION:ugh::ugh::ugh: for July batch and got my flight ticket even on Jun 29th:D:D:D and hope its one of the best.......

As far as I've researched about the schools in Ausi,

1. TVSA - Please don't go there, What tmpffisch said is correct. Even I heard the same:=.

2. AEROSPACE AVIATION SYDNEY,BASAIR - Please don't go to Sydney since weather there is worse for flying:=.

These are the things that I've heard from some of my friends doing pilot training in various states of Australia and even I didn't experience any the things I've mentioned.

But I'm sure that these are truth:):):)........

hey buddy i suggest you not to include proflite in your selection .if so good luck as you will be ruined after mate .and also you might spend your 30 birthday at proflite too lol .many indian students been ripped off from them losing 30 ooo dollars they full of !!!! mate:confused:

yes sir even i have heard from my indian counterparts saying proflite is a real sucker for money and i am stearing very clear of them thank you any way and do let me know from where u are doing your piloting from thank you once again

hakeem i am really glad you selected tristar instead of tvsa i am not very sure where to go i am still trying to decide as i am planning to start only by november so taking my own time to decide dont want to jump so soon to any conclusion thank you buddy all the very best hope to fly with you in the near future captain

Flight Training in Australia.
 

I have worked for years in Australia and I have recently re-located to New Zealand because I was sick and tired working for someone who offers "Airline Pilot Training" and nobody ion the company has ever seen an airliner except from a economy class seat. In Bankstown the only people I can recommend is BASAIR or Sydney Flight training Centre, and I won't touch the others with a 10 foot pole. Melbourne is a good idea too. May be you check out New Zealand. CTC Aircrew Training in Hamilton trains airline pilots for several European airlines and even for Jetstar Pacific. Many of the staff are actually ex airline pilots.

Important tip! There is cheap training and good training which can be inexpensive. Cheap training won't get you into a job.

I suggest you do that. They take your money and after that you can guess when you get training.

Hey dude, I think Basair is a very good one, yet cheap.. I applied for it and payed the 20% of the course fee.. the fee for CPL/IR .. and ATPL is for 59000$ AUD and the acommodation for a single 140$ per week, i think it is for 58 weeks.. hoppe i helped ;)

I did my CPL last year. I am in Melbourne. There are a number of places that you can do your CPL with.

Melbourne Flight Training at Moorabbin. Very much a can do attitude. Excellent simulator, and twin IR instructor.

National Aerospace at Essendon, YMEN. This is more formal, takes slightly longer,excellent IR instructor. They have a charter business, so you can then also get charter experience, and some copilot time. This might help with an airline job.

beaware of the schools here in aus they seem to treat their overseas students different to their local ones. There are also alot of companies that are getting o/s students to increase thier income. try a smaller school that doesnt offer "specials" for o/s students and source your own accomodation.

Hey guys, I've wanted to get into the heli aviation industry for a long time and the opportunity has now presented itself where I can finally afford it :ok:............... I hope:uhoh:!!! I'm thinking of coming to AUS to get a CPL and hopefully build some hours. I originaly wanted to go to florida simply because it was closer to home but that didn't work out well as the Embassy thought i was lying when I told them what I was going to do:mad::mad::mad:. My second choice would be AUS but can anyone give me some feed back on Kestrel aviation out in Victoria?

ECL, how are you going to build heli hours in Aus without a work permit ?

Kestrel's management works very hard to keep their students happy and that's a good thing. In recent years they appear to have scaled back their fixed wing operations somewhat to concentrate on heli training. I can confirm their Frasca simulator is very good and Rex is a very experienced instructor. Mangalore airport is remote but on-site accomodation is a home away from home.

Thanks reverse, well the work permit is something to work on as this whole thing progresses, as I said.....I hope!!! if I'm lucky and things go my way!!! I'm just about to start working on the visa... far more for work permit! Thanks for the info though... I'll take that to mean Kestrel is a good choice :ok:. I'm really trying to do this the right way so I don't end up wasting time and money! I never thought it would be so hard just to even get to somewhere where I could start the course! It's alot of stress but I'm trying to keep my head up and not give up on something I really want! Thanks again!
