Question: IR Validity and doing a TR
For those who have the pertinent information...
I understand that a current IR is required before commencing a type rating course...however, can your IR lapse during the TR course - the course then acting as a revalidation of the intial IR? Do not have LASORS to hand, but would appreciate some clarification. Cheers all.:ok: |
Do not have LASORS to hand First response when I typed the word LASORS into Google - imagine that, eh? LASORS 2008 | Personnel Licensing | Safety Regulation |
My advice to you is to revalidate /renew your IR first, if you've not being flying in IFR for a while or if you are worried about your standard slipping a bit. Do it abroad if it can be done quicker/cheaper.
If you've doing quite a bit of IFR flying, do a practice session on an FNPT2 with an instructor before you go to iron out any "bad habbits". Also rant is good to keep your skills up to speed and can come in handy when your looking at approach plates for your type rating, ie good for an odd dry run, so get a hold of RANT. I'm not sure about the terms and conditions that could warrant you being exempt from reavildating your IR before commencement of a type rating. Phone up the policy section of the CAA, speak to some one and get what they tell you in writing. If indeed you are exempt from IR renewal before your rating, chech that this will be acceptable to the CAA of the country in which you are doing your rating. As for your type rating, choose a "reputable company thats been around a long time". Theres too many cowboys out there and at the end of the day, you don't want to loose your hard earned cash or end up with a sub-standard type rating from a training provider of ill repute. Theres a few airlines that will have you pay up front for your rating and depending on what youre after this might be the way to go. Aside from that, thats the best advice I can give you. Explore all your options and do your home work before you make a decision. Best of luck, Cessnagirl |
