Are my hours valid?
 

Hey quick question. Live in Canada and this spring (due to a realitives transfer) will be moving to Sydney Australia, My obvious concern here is would my private license, and hrs still be valid there or would I have to do some conversion? I also plan on pursuing my C.P.L/M.E/I.R would I be able to start a commercial program no problem in Australia and be employed with an Aussie Commercial license or is there some strings attached? Also if anyone can recommend a few reputable schools would be great.

Your hours are valid but your llicence may not be. Check with CASA and they'll tell you what's required to convert a Canadian PPL to Australian one - most likely, something like Air Law and flight training as required to pass the skill test. Or maybe they'll just issue an Australian PPL on the basis of your Canadian one.

Converting licences is one thing but you also need to consider the immigration hurdles you will have to get over. Without a valid visa an Aus licence is worth very little.

Airlines generally look for Aus Citizenship / Permanent Residency and working in GA would require a visa with Work Rights.
