converting license

Was considering going to South Africa to do the CPL ME/IR and was curious as to what I would have to do to fly legal in Europe ie converting licence to JAA or is the SA license accepted in Europe???

The SOuth African licence is not accepted in JAA land and, in order to convert, you would have to do the JAA exams and whatever flying training necessary to pass a CPL skills test so, all in all, probably not worth it if you ultimately require a JAA licence.

Yep, I'll second that advice from Whirlygig. Having said that, I heard that there's a great need for pilots in Southern Africa.

Well... you can save a lot of money, even after paying for the conversion.

Have a look here :

Another question is : is SA licence more similar to FAA or JAA ? And how does it compare to the Canadian one ?
