Good ATPL/Flying books to read?
 

Hi, just having a look on amazon for a few decent books to buy and read about the ATPL and flying in general but I don't know which ones are the best?! Can anyone recommend any books or DVDs (other than BGS DVD) that I should buy to brush up on info in prep for my CTC assessment and just to generally prepare me better for flight and ground school studies in the future???

The OAT media dvd's are pretty good. Might be worth getting a gcse physics and maths book just to brush up

Not for your ATPL studies, but for flying in general I recommend 'The Killing Zone: How and Why Pilots Die' by Paul A, Craig. (Cheery title I know)

It identifies a period from 50 to 350hrs - a time when newly qualified pilots gain confidence, experience and decision making skills, but this is the zone in which more pilots die than any other.
12 mistakes are highlighted that are most likely to kill you and preventive strategies are given to help you fly safely through this period.

It's short on laughs but plenty of sound advice from an aviation specialist.

I'd recommend the B777 Flying The Big Jets by Stanley Stewart. More relavant and interesting than ATPL Ground subjects (but won't get you through the exams!)

any advice on books for multi engine and IR?? Following ATPL's and during HB i'm looking at what books i can browse through to get the heads up on the next modules. also looking at some phcometric and aptitude type books relative to airline stuff. Any ideas??? also has anybody used the letts books for maths and physics?? might take a look at these also to refresh the old grey matter!!!!!!
