IR Initial Issue in JAR-land

I was just reading one of the threads in Downunder & Godzone and got somewhat curious.

Can an initial instrument rating test be conducted in a full-motion flight simulator in the JAR-land?

No. Maxium is 35 (out of 55 total min hours) for either an FNTP II (which is a non-moving sim with force feedback and a display screen goving a visual of the runway) or a (full-motion) flight simulator.

(I am excluding the Multi-Pilot Licence here, which is *mostly* sim)

Cobalt is correct for beginners.

If you have the appropriate experience on an airliner from any ICAO licence, then yes, your initial JAA IR will be part of the rating check.

cheers IP.

I was under the impression you could renew a SP-IR every other year in an FNPTII? I know it wasn't the question but if anyone knows write back because i can't be bothered finding the answer myself :E

And yes IRISHPILOT is correct
