FAA/IR hour building
 
Hi

I am interested in getting my FAA/IR but do not have the required 50 hours.

Correct me if im wrong but i seem to recall you can count safety pilot hours as P1 time in FAA land.

Would i be able to get my PPL converted to FAA PPL in UK. Share flying with someone in UK on a N reg aircraft and both log P1, then go and get my FAA/IR?

For the FAA/IR the 50 hours is 50 hours cross country P1 and cross country is defined as landing more than 50nm from your departure airfield, catches a few out.

Close, for a Part 61 IR the 50 hrs XC is required.
If you enroll in a Part 141 Instrument course the 50 hrs XC is not required.
However......there's always a but.....:eek:

If things don't turn out well, you need to do the same lesson numerous times, you don't study etc etc etc the school may decide to take you off the 141 course and put you back on track in the Part 61 program.
Now you DO need the 50 hrs XC (again).
In short, enrolling in a part 141 program is not an automatic garantee that you will receive a sign off for your IR check ride under part 141.

Yes you can, the person in the P1 seat needs to be under the hood (simulated IR conditions) and you can then book the hours P1.
