Ops Question

Can anyone help with the following question:

Aircraft may operate in MNPS airspace along a number of special routes, if the aircraft is equipped with at least:

a) Three INS
b) One LRNS
c) Two independent LRNS
d) Two INS

I thought the answer would be C, however the answer given is B.

My notes state that "the requirement is for two LRNS for flight within the MNPSA"

wg100,

you are right, for unrestricted ops in MNPS airspace, an aircraft must be equipped with a minimum of 2 fully serviceable IRNS.

But there is a provision that says;
"MNPS approved aircraft that have suffered any equipment failures that result in only a single LRNS remaining serviceable may still be flight planned and flown through the MNPS Airspace but only on specified routes established for this purpose."

So I guess the key word in your question was "special routes".

hope this helps
