JAA Commercial or ATPL
 
I am a Norwegian national with an FAA ATP ticket and around 4300 hours. What is the difference between the JAA comercial and the JAA ATPL as far as written exams and study goes. I have been looking at the long distance ATPL course but I understand several operators will hire you with a JAA comercial license. I am already typed and currently flying a B 737-800 for a US charter airline. I also have around 1300 hours on the EMB-145 regional jet.
How do you go from a JAA comercial to a JAA ATP? Is it based on flight time or do you have to take the full ATPL course including the 14 written exams?
