One or the Other, Or Both?

Hi All,

Im currently in two minds of what to do, i cannot pick a flight school unless i make this decision...

Basically i dont know weather to do FAA or JAA, or both. Really i need to know if i do JAA, how easy is it for me to convert, or vica versa...

At the same time i am having trouble finding a school that offers a course which complies with both, like the Naple Air Center course.

Thanks very Much

Jamie,
A simple question- Where can you work?
Do you have a green card allowing you to work in the USA?
If not, you need to do a JAR licence.

Some schools in the USA train you to have an ATPL issued. To do this you do the course then "work" for them til you have 1500 hours. That give you an FAA ATPL and an immediate flight home. Where you will have to convert your now rusty ATPL Theory and soon to be equally rusty practical flying skills to JAR.

If you can work long term in USA do FAA if you will work in Europe do a JAR licence.

Remember to convert to JAR from FAA will take you same 14 exams and a Minimum of 15 hours for the I/R. Perhaps acheivable if your current but less so if your rusty.
