Flying school---London area?

I apologise if this post is at the wrong place.

I am very interested in getting into the aviation field as a pilot. I do not have any experience and thinking of starting with my PPL.

Can anyone recommend any good school at London area? I do not have a car for now so hopefull a school not too hard to get around to?

thanks...(sorry new to london area)

I was in the same position a couple of years ago and found 3 ppl schools accessable by public transport from London. Will really depend where in London you are as to which suits you best though. I ended up doing at the Pilot Centre in Denham and was very happy there.

Pilot Centre, Denham

Also see Stapleford - bit tricky to get to.

and

Various schools at Biggin Hill - involves long and infrequent bus journey.

There may be others, i'm not sure. But i was very happy with the instruction and atmosphere at Denham, though the airlfield is a 20 minute walk from the station which i managed once per week. If i was going every day i'd consider getting a car!

thanks for the replies.

ChocksAwayUK- how long did it take to walk from the station to Denham school? Also, what are the fees i have to pay before i can start the course?

scubawasp- I am wondering if it is close to any train/rail system?

Thanks and sorry, new to London...:(

You can start the course for as little as the cost of a trial lesson (£90) though i think there may a slight incentive to pay for the whole course up front (£5625 - though you will go over this with books, equipment, away landing fees, extra lessons etc). May be best to "pay as you go" - all prices are on the website.

As i said, the airfield is 20 minute walk from Denham station. Denham is a 30 minute train journey from Marylebone (west/central London) and there are other stops throughout NW london on the way.

There is a train service from london to redhill, the schools there will pick you up if you ask them, after all, they want your buisness

Try also West London Aero Club at White Waltham, or any of the clubs at Wycombe Air Park.

Both will involve a train journey to either Maidenhead or High Wycombe and a short taxi ride from the train station to the airfield's.
