Order of FAA Training
 

Sorry, i just realised that the title sounds like a masonic lodge for aviators!

I am just about to finish up my FAA PPL and am planning on getting the rest, the CPL, ME and Instrument.


Can any of you advise on what the best order to do them in is?

Or does it matter?

PPL (JAA)
IR SE
[Complex Endorsement]
[High Performance endorsement]
CPL / ME / IR ME (1 checkride)
CPL SE
[High Altitude endorsement]

and just out of curiosity. what are you doing now?

I did:

PPL (JAA)
Night
IMC
[Complex Endorsement]
IR (SE)
CPL SE
CPL ME (inc IR privilages)

However, by the time I decided to go and obtain an FAA CPL/IR I had already logged 400 hours and all required CPL requirements completed (except night cross country dual).

If you're obtaining your FAA CPL via Part 61 (which I believe you are) then you require at least 250 hours including various cross country / night requirements.

I am thinking of doing the CFI / CFII / MEI. I have been looking round a few places and think I have settled on one but its a case of getting about 4-5 weeks off work to go and do them.

I did the high performance at the FBO I was using at the time. Its an instructor signoff.

The High altitude I did at Proflight in Carlsbad, San Diego as had a few days left after I completed my checkride. The endorsement allow you to operate high altitude pressurized aircraft under 61.31(g).
