Working durint DL ATPL

Hey,
this summer im hoping to start distance learning ATPL, I think with Bristol.gs. Now, im just wondering what experience you may have had. Having investigated the courses further, it is apparent that two three week periods of absense from work will be necessary.

Now im thinking about getting a job once I finish my degree (my namesake only pays a 5 pounds per hour!), but Im wondering what reactions employers will have when i say i need the time off. Most places give four weeks holidays, but im willing to have two weeks unpaid leave.

I know my current employer do allow this, since I would have been there for three years, but im really wanting a position in aviation for the year when i do my ATPL.

What have your experiences been?

When I did this in 2002, it was two two week brush ups. Perhaps they have extended them to 3 weeks.

Parris50, 2 week brush up followed by 1 week exams equals 3 weeks in my book.

ikea, I believe most people take at least 6 months to do mod 2, therefore that's 3 weeks leave per year for 2 years. You’ll have a bigger problem when you do your IR which will be about 6 weeks.
