Multi vs Single Instrument-difference?
hey, just wondering what the difference is between the licenses?
If i have a multi rating, and a SE IR, can I fly in IFR conditions in a miltu engine a/c? Or do I need an ME IR to fly multi engined a/s in IFR conditions? Many thanks for any assistance :-) alex |
You need a ME-IR to fly Instrument legally in a multi engine.
However, with the ME-IR you can also fly SE-IR. Basically you need to do two approaches under IMC, one with both engines running and one with an engine down (Me thinks) in order to get the ME-IR. This is normally done while getting the ME rating as I understand it. /Krister |
Hotprop is correct in saying that you need a ME-IR to fly a ME aircraft in IMC, and also correct in saying that a ME-IR also allows you to fly a SE aircraft in IMC (as long as you have a valid SE class rating, of course!)
However, don't confuse this with a multi-pilot IR. A multi-pilot IR does not give you any privileges on any single-pilot aircraft. Although this is a very different thing to a ME-IR, I think it causes a bit of confusion simply because they sound similar! FFF ------------- |
