Buying as opposed to renting

Hi ALL

I have just finished my PPl here in SA and will be returning to Ireland in the near future to do my atp's. I've been looking at flying schools in Ireland and their rentals are fairly expensive. I know what a lot of people do is they buy a share in an aircraft instead of renting from a school. Has anyone out there had any experience with this and got any advice to offer or could tell me more about costs etc.
