Pre CPL/IR Books

Morning,

Can anyone recommend any good background reading for the CPL/ME/IR? A quick flick through any of the websites brings up quite a few but can anyone out their seal of approval on one?

I would take a chance but i'm trying to keep my bank manager happy so he'll give me a big loan:ok:
