What route should I go?

Right now I'm working on my CPL, but I'm not too sure what direction I want to go in. I originally signed up to go the standard route and get the MIFR, but after doing reading a lot of posts on this board, I don't think that's very wise.

Right now I've done all of my training in C172s and only have ~120 hours.

I would like to go "north" to get a job as I don't believe I would make a very good instructor. My dilemma is what type of training should I do? Floats and build up lots of time? Getting experience in a taildragger wouldn't hurt too much either, I imagine. I think it would still be a good idea to get the SIFR. That way I'll have some extra skills that may come in handy someday.

Another question, say I do forgo the MIFR for now. Is it likely that I would be passed over when trying for that first job if I don't have the MIFR, as most others will have it?

Any insight will be appreciated...
