Living in Coventry (or nearby).

I'm off to ATA in January, anybody got any recommendations on places to live? Places to avoid etc etc? I know I've left it a bit late but what can you do..........?!

Cheers

they've got some good links on their website

but if you've got a car then leamington spa is a safe bet - nice little town

basically just try and avoid coventry

see you up there on the 14th

ATA have a list of all the people that are willing to put you up in the local area. Anywhere within staggering distance of The Old Mill is preferable.

I disagree with Capt. Aileron about avoiding Coventry. Coventry is an excellent city for staying in your room and getting on with some serious study!

Seriously though Max Drift, your best bet is to phone around, using the accommodation list that ATA can provide. Do this soon, or you might have problems finding a place that isn't already booked. There are quite a few places close to the airport, some within walking distance of ATA, and many of the landlords/ladies also provide evening meals and packed lunches if you want them. Advisable in my opinion, as it gives you one less thing to worry about.

By the way, congratulations on choosing an excellent ground school.

Max, Hi, I'm an ex-Cov Atco with 2 bits of (possibly)useful advice
1 Avoid areas like Binley/Willenhall/Stoneleigh like the plague, 748's and DC6's are very unpleasant at 3am.
2 Leamington can be quite expensive as can Warwick but Cov is OK, see if you can get somewhere in and around Finham/Styvechale, they're only 2 miles from the airport but get very little nighttime noise. If you are having trouble, ask Kerry at ATA if she knows of anywhere (that's if she still works there)! The ATC unit is quite good as units go, they're a pretty decent bunch. Good luck.

Sleeping's permitted, dribbling isn't!

Drop me an e-mail, I am currently studying at ATA.

ok guys local lad, Kenilworth is good news, but try to avoid the areas nearest to the field as they are bad news. Leam is good for nightlife, Warwick is great for web feet and antique shops!! Otherwise have fun.!!

Max

Im off to ATA in april!

I will be staying in the house Flypuppy has probably mentioned. Its a nice house on a nice housing estate. Its a little bit quiet round there though. I cant remember what the area is called, I think its Finham.

Apparently you must make sure you can get home at weekends or you will go crazy (no offrnce people from Cov)

So ill see you there.
