Securing 1st Officer post
 

32 years old and thinking of thinking of training to be an airline pilot. What chances do I have of securing a 1st Officers position? Is age a problem when trying to enter the industry?

i dont think your age will be a problem to be honest...

My advice will be, get a class 1 medical now, before anything else. Without that forget the whole thing.
Secondly, if you can, do an integrated full time course, it will help in passing the ground school and getting a job at the end of it.
Thirdly, make sure those around you are supportive of you being in the books for at least 4/5 months.

Regarding your question of FO job, form my experience it is who you know not what you know. network like mad, read flight international, read pprune, join balpa. Dont wait until you have the licence in your paws, start now. There are jobs out there, i know of 6 airlines big and small who are recruiting now. If you want it you will get it.
