Can Anybody Help Me With These Questions

HI GUYS
CAN ANY OF YOU HELP ME OUT WITH THESE CPL QUESTIONS

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF A BRAKE AJUSTER UNIT..1TO PROVIDE A RUNNING CLEARANCE..2MAINTAIN BRAKING ACTION..2WEAR INDICATION

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF AN A/C DROOPED NOSE ..LEADING EDGE..1

WHERE ARE GROUND LOCKING PINS LOCATED ON AN A/C UNDERCARRIAGE..1OLEO..2BOGI..3DOWN LOCKS..4DOOR ACTUATORS

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF A DUCT RELEIF VALVE?
HUMIDITY IS CONTROLLED IN TH CABIN BY..1WATER EXTRACTOR..2HUMIDIFIER..3 HUMIDISTAT

monkeyboy 21st Nov 2002 14:33

Hello steven, I can only answer the following questions. I'm sure others will fill in the gaps.

Humidity is controlled by the humidifier.

The Duct Relief Valve 'prevents damage to the ducts' [straight from the Oxford notes]

Good luck.

No books avauliable, but i'll try my best...

The brake adjuster unit keeps the same clearance between the pads and disk as the pad wears out. Out of the options you mentioned I'd choose...To maintain braking action.

By drooped nose, i'm assuming you're refering to the negative angle of attack some a/c have on landing. This is inbuilt into the a/c so as to increase the load on the wheels, thus allowing harder barking (similar effect to spoilers)

Hope this helps

U/C ground lock pins go in the down locks.

Not sure about the harder barking for the drooped nose leading edge.

I thought it was to do with swept wings and AOA, low speed contrability, functions like slats and slots.

Can You Help Me Answer These?

HI GUYS
THANKS FOR YOUR HELP LAST TIME ......BUT CAN YOU HELP ME WITH THESE...
IF PRESSURISATION WAS SELECTED BEFORE T.OFF CABIN RATE OF CHANGE WOULD...1NOT CHANGE..2INDICATE ROC...3INDICATE ROD..4INDICATE A/C ALT

WHERE IS THE SILENCER FITTED IN A DISPLACMENT BLOWER SYSTEM AND WHY?

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF A THERMAL RELIEF VALVE..1REDUCE SYSTEM PRESSURE..2MAINTAIN CIRCUIT PRESSURE..3RELIEVE EXESS PRESSURE..4RELIEVE EXESS FLUID FLOW

WHEN AN A/C IS DITCHED AT SEA DUMP VALVES MUST BE..1CLOSED..2ENERGISED..3OUTFLOW VALVES CLOSED..4DITCHING VALVE SELECTED

TEMP CONTROL IS ACHIEVED IN AN AIRCON SYSTEM BY..1REGULATING SPILL VALVES..2MIXER..3 REGULATING THE AMOUNT OF AIR PASSING THE TEMP VALVE

PeteB 24th Nov 2002 15:20

I think:

1: Cabin pressure would not change as the air/ground logic system keeps the outflow valves fully open

2: Can't remember

3: Relieve excess pressure

4: Outflow valves must be closed to prevent shipping water - I think there is a specific selection on the A/C panel called 'ditching' -??

5: The mixer mixes the cold and hot air available in the A/C system. Bypass valves regulate the amount of hot air allowed to bypass the A/C without being cooled.

Hope that helps...

in answer to the first question, I believe that the cabin pressure would remain the same until the aircraft became airborne. during the climb, the cabin would indicate a rate of descent as it is 'deflated' to allow the cabin to reach a pressure approximately the same to that found at 8000ft.

Drooped Nose

If its the concorde you are referring to then the drooped nose would provide:

(a) Better visibility for the pilot on approach due to the higher attitudes of delta plan form aircraft on finals, especially in case of partial or flapless landing.

(b) The camber of the nose provides some degree of fuselage created lift. Esp on approach.

(c) The nose oleo would be excessively long if the nose was not drooped, which would cause very poor ground handling including braking.

Thats all I can think of just now

Open to corrections
;)

In answer to the first question, generaly the cabin is pressurized to -200ft before take off to ease the transition to flight and make it more comfortable for the passengers. So initialy the cabin will show a brief rate of decent.

As for ditching at sea and sea dump valves...???????? I would have thought the cat flap would have opened and shipped water due to the excessive external pressure.

In 737 the air conditioning packs provide air cooled at the temp of the coolest zone requested in the aircraft. The mixer valves then warm the air to the temp required by the other zones.

A thermal relief valve relieves excess pressure due to an increase in temperature.

As for the blower, to long ago to remember sorry....

q1 metric

q2 4.

q3 probably 3 - not sure.

Wedge 25th Nov 2002 11:24

Think this one should be in Tech Log!

moo 25th Nov 2002 11:27

1. not sure but would have thought any alt.
2. not sure but would have thought would maintain system pressure to essentials
3. charge air through ducts and cool air around ducts
4. unimportant - only if the generators are paralled on a synchronous bus does the phase have to be the same. If the generators are operating on a synchronous bus and one starts misbehaving, current transformers along the cable runs input signals to Generator control units and bus control units which trip split system breakers, generator circuit breakers or bus tie breakers dependent on situation

monkeyboy 25th Nov 2002 14:38

Hello again steven b.

Q1: Agree with moo, I'd say any alt.
Q2: Essential services only.

Moo's done the rest.

Good luck! :)
