If like me the cost is getting you down for accessories, then follow this link. This will save you about £80 on a new set of David Clarks.

nice one! but don't you also have to add VAT?

airbourne 18th Oct 2002 13:52

Nope. Goods are for export so theres no VAT applicable

The seller is in the US, therefore there is no US sales tax (similar to VAT) if it's an out-of-state or international purchase.

However for importing it into the UK, you have to pay the VAT to the UK taxman. Having said that, I'm not sure how many people actually do......

And no, I would never buy DVDs from Amazon US and have them sent to me in the UK without paying VAT - because that would be illegal. :p :p

It's the luck of the draw really - it depends on how vague the customs declaration on the package is, and how keen the Customs and Excise unit at Mount Pleasant sorting office in London is feeling when your package comes through.

Be Careful out there!

I recently bought Randolph sunglasses from 'Sportys' for $69.00.

When the postie rang the doorbell I had to hand over VAT, import duty and a £12.00 customs fee!
