FAA ATP-CTP
Hi guys. Just wanted to ask if anyone of you went thru the program recently?
I do have an unrestricted FAA CPL/ME/IR and a EASA ATP with lots of hours. Can you recommend a place to go and give me a heads up about what time frame i do have to plan. Thank you. |
If you have that much experience, the CTP is a bit of a joke. It's designed primarily for 1500 hour SEP CFIs who are moving to their first jet and first airline. Assuming you've already flown a jet airline, it's going to be an expensive week with not a whole lot learnt (maybe some useful networking). So I'd recommend finding somewhere cheap since nobody is going to ask where you did your CTP. I hear Aerostar in Florida fits that bill. That way, you also have the option to get a Type Rating on your licence.

Around 11k at FTI school (based in Colorado, training available in Miami). Pan Am is a bit more (around 15k). Plan Three weeks plus two weeks home study (about two hours a day) to pass the theoretical FAA ATP. You have three options: Do a check ride on a multi engine prop, Do a sim check ride on the plane you are current on your EASA, do another type on a plane you are not type rated (longer and more expensive but gives you a chance to apply to better jobs in case you are not a 737/320 family). If needed send me a message |
Share2care Chauderon Thank you for your reply.
I fly a Challenger 650 presently, having 9500hrs. Looks like all the Flight School are pretty busy and fully booked. Will keep a closer look to Aerostar as it really seems that the "big" once also ask for big money. When I read over the programs, it also looks pretty much like the CCC (Crew Coordination Concept) we had to do in germany already when i did my ATP in 1997. |
