Canavia flight school in Canaries
Any experiences or opinions about Canavia?
All cross-country flights being over open ocean is a bit troubling, but otherwise seems like a great environment in terms of number of flying days per year. |
Had a quick look at their website, not impressed with their fleet.
Few aircraft which could mean delays in case of maintenance. I’m sorry to say I don’t think you’ll learn navigation on an island that small. Then again how important is dead reckoning when you’re on a career track and your instrument rating is the next thing you do? I would be a little concerned about your lack of variety with only 4 airports. |
Thanks for the reply, and good points. Myself I'm not on a career track, it's a passion. The flexibility to do it productively might allow me to indulge the passion more, but that's not a major consideration right now. I'm living on Gran Canaria anyway so the decision is whether to train here now or train elsewhere later. Delays if AOG are not really a major issue, though potentially frustrating if I'd rather be flying.
