To convert your license to GCAA UAE license

Hi guys,

I'm going to convert my CPL (IR with A320 rating) to GCAA UAE CPL.
At first glance, everything seems simple, but something from CAAP4 is confusing to me:

A UAE Commercial Pilots License (CPL) or Airline Transport Pilots License (ATPL) is issued only
to persons who are employed by an Operator or organization, which operates UAE registered
aircraft. The only exception to this is for pilots who conduct an approved course of training at
an approved UAE Aviation training organization.
Additionally, these individuals may retain
their currency provided they do not exercise the privileges of the license within the UAE
without complying with all UAE visa requirements.
So what kind of training should I conduct to obtain UAE license without employment by UAE registered company?

Anyone had an experience to convert a license to GCAA UAE without UAE companies?

Thanks

I should imagine that's for integrated cadet courses. You don't need a GCAA licence unless you have a job, in which case they'll issue you one.

Hi jetplanepilot,

So you need to approach Fujairah aviation academy, and they have specific courses which you need to complete in order to convert your ICAO CPL to a GCAA one, you can get in touch with them and they'll help you with the costing, which is around AED 30,000 i believe and you have to fly specific hours with them on C172 and DA42 if you have ME. Along will all that you will have to go through ground school and sit for the 14 GCAA exams. In my opinion, don't do the conversion unless you have a job in hand, because all the national airlines do it for their hired pilots in house.

Cheers!

  4. Delivery of Licence: Collection shall be at GCAA Dubai Office / deliver by courier.

Hello Guys.
There is anybody here who did ATPL exams in the UAE? Database is the same as EASA one or different? I'm searching everywhere, but, I cannot find any info regarding that.

Hey there. Did my GCAA ATPL exams back in ‘17-‘18 and it was almost 95% identical to the EASA question bank besides Air Law which includes approximately 10 questions unique to the GCAA. Use Aviation Exam and I guess you should be good to do. Best of luck.
