EASA ME CBIR with IAA?

Is it possible to get a MEIR using the CBIR route in EASA-land and specifically with the IAA?

Will the 15hrs of instruction I received on my UK IR(R) (i.e IMC Rating) course and any hours flown on EASA aircraft using this rating be credited towards the issue of an EASA MEIR using the CBIR route?

I asked the IAA this question a few months ago but never received a reply.

Yes, it is possible. Part FCL allows it.
However you have to meet the conditions to get your MEP(land) (100hrs PIC on MEP)

I think you are correct, the pre requisite for the cb IR is 40 hours of IFR time, although the IRR isnt recognised as a rating by an EASA NAA, as you say the 15.hours of instrument training you did for the IRR should still be creditable towards the 40 hours pre requisite.

If this were true no one would ever get an MEP!

The dual flight by sole reference to the instruments time is credited according to appendix 6 Aa.6. Note that 15 h dual instrument training on ME is required if applying initially for the MEIR. Otherwise, upgrading an SEIR to an MEIR only requires 5 hours and a second IRT.

portsharbourflyer, "40 hours of IFR time" isn't sufficient. It must be FSRI.

I didn't see that require listed as a requirement in Annex 1 of Part-FCL.

well, there are two options in general..
-) either to have 100 hours as PIC on MEP and to go thru the CB-IR ME directly, or
-) go thru CB-IR SE, than take 6 hours of MEP training + 5 hours of IR-ME extension

Mike, only 15 PIC IFR ME hours are needed for the credit in appendix 6, Aa.8, iaw AMC 8 to that appendix. As an aside, the AMC is made valid in UK by ORS9–CAA Decision No 1.

Selfin, good point and thanks for the clarification, makes sense as IFR can be in VMC. So it makes sense it has to be FSRI.
