Methods to pay for flying abroad?

What are the best methods to pay for flying abroad, specifically in Florida. My school wants to charge me 2% to use my VISA and the bank wants to charge me 2% for travellers cheques. What other options are available as its expensive enough already. ($6500 in cash is a bit risky!)

Thanks

There's Bankers Draft and Electronic transfer. Be warned though that what you think it will cost is not always what you actually pay. The rate of exchange varies between different methods used and the exchange rate may be different on the actual day that the transaction takes place (for better or worse) also the fees charged for the different methods of transfer varies. Best thing is phone your bank. Might be worth checking if the flight school where you plan to spend your cash has a UK bank account!
