Converting EASA license to UK-CAA License

If you were to convert an EASA part FCL licence to a UK CAA licence, would you lose the EASA licence or would you still be able to use it?
I know its a bit of a silly question, but I can't seem to find the answer.

You keep both. You couldn't hold two EASA licenses at the same time but as the UK is no longer EASA you can hold both a UK one and an EASA license.

Hi, I have a question about a smiliar topic. In order to convert your EASA FCL to UK CAA, would you have to resit all 14 ATPL exams again, or is it a matter of some paper work and a check ride?

portsharbourflyer 26th Oct 2021 16:28

Depends when you passed your exams. If all 14 EASA exams were (is it 13 now the comms papers are combined?) passed before 31/12/2020 then the UK will recognise them. If the EASA exams were after that date you will need to resit them.

Hi portsharbourflyer thanks for the information. I have a slight feeling in the coming years this will change!

I’m in a similar scenario however my EASA CPL was issued after 31st December 2020 and I upgraded to ATPL after 31st December. I want to obtain a UK ATPL and continue to hold my EASA License. So I had to email the UK CAA ‘Attention Tech: EU Conversion’. I have heard nothing since. Does anyone know of anyone in a similar situation?

Converting EASA CPL to UK CPL

Hey guys
I’d like to ask a question about UK licence conversion.
I was given my CPL licence yesterday from UK CAA which is really confuses me. The issue I’m having is that on section XII where you have all your ratings IR exam dates etc written is completely blank. I’m having in my EASA licence SEP MEP ME IR FI. All these ratings just expired at the end of 2022 I want to renew everything. Do you know why nothing is written into my licence? At the back of my licence it’s written ratings previously held by holder they wrote SEP land MEP land Instrument FI.
Can you please help if someone know why is it like that?
Thanks a lot

They’re on the back of your licence because they’ve all expired.

Hi,
I suggest you keep a copy of the old license, it will greatly simplify the renewal process.

Usually you have to do for all ratings the check , that you can write in your new license , this is the same as license conversion, ICAO to EASA and vice versa . When you convert license it must be valid (license must be valid and rating (SEP ,MEP ,IR etc... at time of check for new license in order to transfer rating in to the new license) . Example in case of CPL with MEP IR - Pass 13 exams ATPL Theory, CPL check flight, when license is at your hands, then IR ,Type Rating etc...

If you find well paid pilot job and want to stay in UK till end of your 65's ,than it's ok , but is it worth doing that ,converting to 3rd country license if you don't have well paid job etc...???
