Dash 8 Q 400 Type Rating
Hi, considering a Q400 TR can anyone recommend a provider?

Your employer?
|
The Q400 is not the most common type out there, so I assume that you have a conditional offer lined up. If that's indeed the case, it's best to do it wherever your prospective employer does their trainings and checks. You're more likely to get a good price if affiliated to a company than as an independent individual. For example, you might be able to save on VAT if the invoice is in the company's name, depending on your local legislation. And also, if your company works with a certain training provider, that's usually for a reason. They wouldn't send their pilots there if they thought that the quality of training was not adequate or anything like that.

Pay to play ? Is the job in mother Africa ?

Sorry English is not my first language. Perhaps i wasn't clear enough. Just looking for recommendation of a place to do Q400 Type Rating. Not sarcastic remarks nor morale lectures. Much appreciated😉

CAE Stockholm or Aspire flight training Vienna. Maybe FSI in Toronto still. Like the aircraft the sims are also quite rare, but it’s your choice. Google will probably find you more. You asked for recommendations, in the current job market with hundreds of experienced Q400 pilots out of work my recommendation would be don’t do it. But you’ve said you don’t want any comments like that so enjoy the type rating course... have you thought about where you might do the base training afterwards, can’t imagine they have ZFT training approval, even if you meet the requirements.

The recommendation is that your employer should be telling you where to do it, not you asking an internet forum. |
Thx very much Excrab🙂 Cheers!

Tumbleweed flowing in the wind comes to mind.

Not quite sure what the big issue is here..? I'm unemployed and just look to move on with a TR as part of my training🤔

@pilot1972 without wishing to patronise there are so many out of work Q400 pilots (I am one of them) and things are so bad I chose to renew my basic me ir over my Q400 TR as thats all I could afford and broadens my job prospects the most. If you do a self sponsored Q400 rating you are not only completely and utterly wasting your money but you are also helping to reduce the terms and conditions of the industry and potentially taking away a job from someone who didn't just buy their way in. I sincerely wish you the best of luck but save your money and just wait a couple of years. In the meanwhile perhaps go and instruct or something...
A friend of mine self sponsored an a320 last year for around 25k and honestly he is never going to fly an a320 off the back of it. |
Pilot1972,
Simply, there are no jobs available. You are wasting your time and money. |
Thx for your concern. Have a great day👍

Job offer for many different types turbojet or turboprop available , payment in shiba coin these days only for me
|
Hmmm... looking all this threads about people looking for ss TR it seems it would be a good idea to raise the money and found a TRTO while waiting for the pilot market to rise.
