Have UK CAA EASA PPL and need to revalidate it while in the USA. How to get a list of ATO or examiners in the US?

Is it the same as EASA approved ATOs?

You need a UK examiner or UK ATO - can't use EASA now. The UK CAA publish a list of all ATOs here:

And a list of examiners here (trouble is that it doesn't tell you where they are!):

There are some UK examiners who are also airline pilots, who may be able to help when they are downroute. Where are you in the US?

I guess that a UK Class 2 medical will also be required and don't know if the AMEs were able to adapt (re-qualifly) for UK CAA approval.

thanks for all the replies. FL would be a great location for the flight review, but willing to do it other locations. Scanned the two documents (Stan) but was not able to locate UK CAA examiner. Does anyone know of examiner in the US? Thanks.

Revalidate your PPL before you go and your medical should be current. Then you apply for an FAA PPL based on your UK PPL. The FAA website has the forms and instructions, you may be able to send in the application even before you leave the UK, not sure what current rules are because of pandemic procedures.

Dr Mark S Rubin in Ormond Beach is an aeromedical examiner with UK CAA and Transport Malta (EASA) approvals.

Naples Air Center might still be approved by UK CAA as a satellite training base of Andrewsfield Aviation. Standards doc 31 also lists Pilots’ Paradise in Florida.

I have used Dr. Rubin twice in the past. Emailed and called Pilots Paradise no reply. Naples Air not doing EASA; thus no UK CAA as well. Based on the current UK CAA rules (plus the exemptions-COVID), I still need 1 hour training with a UK CAA Examiner and still can not find one in the US.

NAC should remain approved through its UK parent ATO for UK Part-FCL training so there ought to be at least a CRE or PPL FE on staff.

Martin Lloyd (American Aviation Academy, San Diego CA), Stephen Fisher (Pilots' Paradise, Sebastian FL), and Kevin Beale (CAE, Phoenix AZ) are on the current CAP 1585b list for UK CAA FEs.

Are you sure you really need to do a proficiency check with an examiner?
