CAA Frozen ATPL License Transfer EASA
 

I realise it is very late, however with the recent rush of many of my colleagues to transfer their CAA license to another EASA state with the hope of joining an airline in the future, i'm wondering whether it is worth attempting to transfer or not.
I have an EASA CAA frozen ATPL, if I don't attempt to transfer my license by the end of this year have I lost the recognition from EASA permanently?

Does anyone have any advice?

As far as i'm aware nothing has completely been decided yet. My friends in varying UK airlines are all remaining with their UK licenses but I understand that is so they can operate UK registered aircraft.

No one yet knows.

You can, at least, start a transfer of State Of Licence Issue (SOLI). Worst case it fails and you are out by several hundred pounds. Best case, success, or Boris pulls a rabbit out of M Barnier's chapeau. If you don't, worst case ATPL exams and flight tests again. Best case, who knows?

An update. Some EASA States originally took the view that a SOLI transfer started before exit date could be completed after. EASA ruled that out recently, they must be 'completed' by the end of December. Having spoken to the IAA a couple of days ago they say it's unlikely that a request for SOLI now would get the medical records sent over by the CAA before the end of the year, and therefore the SOLI would fail.

Do you know if ‘completed’ means the NAA has contacted you saying the licence and medical are ready or if the exchange has to have been done?

The IAA consider that 'completed' means they have received the medical records. The actual licence etc. will follow on.

If you are time critical to do a SOLI transfer.... what if you do a full IAA class1 initial?

Most IAA staff are still working from home due COVID situation apparently resulting in paperwork delays I believe.

UPDATE:
I received communication from IAA on Saturday night that my licence and medical were ready for exchange. Looks like it was a generic email sent to a whole bunch of people.
I sent my originals off this morning so they can send the new ones back to me.
For reference, they originally received my SOLI paperwork on 4th September so pretty good turnaround I think.
