Conversion to Austrian Licence
Was hoping someone could help me here. I've searched through all the threads about licence change etc but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. Could someone shed light on what the actual procedure is for transferring from a UK CAA licence to an Austrian Licence? Maybe a Link to where to start the process? Can it be done online? The only thing I have is the SRG2150 UK form, I cant find anything else. Is there something from the Austrian side also?
Also, I read someone's comment here that the Austrians may not process further licence conversions, has anyone heard anything about this? Lastly, can someone advise on the actual cost of the transfer? Thanks in advance |
Whether they’re still accepting them or not I don’t know- but can see no legal reason why not as the U.K. is still part of EASA for the moment.
Google “AustroControl SOLI form” - available as a PDF - officially titled Transfer of Medical Records - and the table of fees is available on the Austro Control Website. Just seen the “other thread” on licence transfers - can these be merged? |
CAA SRG 1201, 1202, 2150. These request the CAA to send docs and medicals to the receiving authority and pay for the medical docs.
Austro end whatever their SOLI change form is |

It is not the case they are not accepting applications anymore but that due to the immense volume of applications they can no longer guarantee that the transfer would complete before Brexit and are suggesting to try another, more quiet EASA nation. In light if this I am waiting to hear back from IAA as although thay have set a deadline of 04/09 and any applications received after that may not be processed I can only think that they too will be inundated with applications and we might be in the grey area of where they are accepting applications but cannot guarantee completion. I am now seeking information from other EASA states as in my opionion I believe I have probably missed the boat with Austro and IAA for guaranteeing conversion completion. |
Thanks for the replies everyone. Much appreciated. Not sure which authority to go with, more research required I guess. Magpie32, indeed it was your post I saw. Thank you for sharing the heads up, and the further info, extremely useful.
As a matter of interest, how many of you guys know UK licence holders who aren't too bothered about the whole thing? I've spoken to friends in both airline and corporate who said they have no intention of changing. I'm not sure I share their confidence in that. Most of the answers they give me range from "when I need to change, I will," to "They'll come up with a solution, not too worried," to "it's gonna cost me 1500 quid." |
Malta might be worth a look?

I would think twice before transferring to TM CAD. It takes ages and the service provided as far as FCL is concerned is inconsistent. You just have to look at their website. A mess ...

I work for a UK airline and I have a UK licence. I don't know why people think getting an EASA one is going to help them unless they currently reside in a European country. The right to live and work is the biggest hurdle - if the politicians **** that one up then the licence you have won't matter a bit. The only place a UK citizen is guaranteed to be able to work after Brexit is Ireland, and do you think Ryanair will hire you of they can't send you off to Eastern Europe?
