Odd question ref CPL(A) & (H) theory passes.

Hi all. I’m hopefully soon to finish my 14 ATPL theory exams and currently only hold a PPL(a). I am aware that the passes will be valid for the issue of a CPL(a) for 3 years. If I were to complete a PPL(h) during this 3 year period and decided to go down the commercial route in rotary instead would any of the ATPL(a) theory exams that I had passed be usable or would I have to sit the whole lot again using the (h) syllabus, thus having sat some 28 or so live exam passes (s’not appenin’ if that’s the case!). I am aware of cross crediting from one to the other but am wondering if this can happen with pre-practical TK passes or does cross crediting of exam passes only after gaining a CPL in one or the other disciplines.

You can take the 5 bridging exams at ATPL level. You don't need to hold the licence. I did the ATPL (A) exams, then 5 CPL (H) exams, got the CPL(H) off the back of those then got the CPL (A).

If you're going to do both, for god's sake go to the US where you can credit massive amounts of hours, instruct for a bit, then convert to EASA. It'll cost you less than a third what you'd pay over here 😉
