Multiple questions relating to training and conversion
 
Hi all,

i turn to you once again for advice and answers !

Let me first depict the situation
I al an EASA PPL with night rating
about 100 hours (70 dual, 30 PIC)
completed ATPL theory (all 14 modules)
currently time building in the US.

I was planning on going back to europe for my CPL IRME training.
however, the current situation does not allow me to go back. So an idea came to me... why not do my CPL IR ME here ! I am not TSA check yet but I’ll start the process if I got confirmation here.

my question is:
if I complete my CPL IRME here under FAA, can I then convert it to EASA when I come back ? It looks like it’s not a problem at all, but some people are telling me that I need to be full ATP FAA in order to do that... however most conversion school just talk about ICAO CPL IRME.

I should let you know that I also contacted schools of course to see with them.

Don't bother getting an FAA CPL.
You definitely should get an FAA IR - you can convert that very easily to EASA. Once you've got your EASA IR you only need to do a 15 hour course for the CPL.

Probably because you will get little credit against the 15 hours training required once you get back to EASA. However, there are times when being dual qualified with EASA and FAA are beneficial.

The other point you need to bear in mind is that it is perfectly legal to “dual count” hours in the FAA system in that if you are rated for the aircraft and undergoing training you can log that training as P1. When you come back to EASA your 100hours P1 requirement for CPL issue may not be accepted meaning you having to go and do some more P1 time.

That said, still worth doing the IR and, IMHO, the CPL as well for the experience - but don’t waste hours doing circuits or local burger runs - go places and challenge yourself.
