CPL & IR Advice
 

Hi all,
I'm soon to start my CPL, IR and ME ratings in an integrated course. I've been hour building over the last few months after having finished my ATPLs , PPL, NR and UPRT A.

Does anyone have any advice on things I should brush up on for the CPL and IR course in particular? I have about 10 hours left of my hour building, so any flying practice or any theory you'd recommend I go over would be very helpful.
The school haven't suggested anything other than their SOPs and aircraft POH and apparently teach as if you know nothing, however I want to do well and be on top of things.
Any advice would be great.

You talk about hours building and having done your written exams. It doesn't sound like you're on an Integrated Course.

... To have made it so far and not know the difference between integrated and modular 😂

The best price of advice I would give my younger self is to learn the poh. Know everything about the aircraft and know all the checklists by heart, engine fire, failure, secure etc. Practise chair flying - an airplane at £500 an hour is NOT the place to be learning stuff, it's the place to be putting it into practice. Talk to people who have done the tests so you know what to expect: knowing what the examiner is looking for is ¾ of the battle. If you can fly accurately (enough) and you understand the test then it's all pretty easy to be honest. If your plane has a gps, use it. Know every button and every menu.

Other than that, enjoy the course - they will teach you everything you need to know.

Confusing choice of words...I’m modular, it’s a combined course over a few months that covers the three qualifications. Hence integrated. Anyway...any advice?

Why not take an hour with a CPL instructor to see where to improve. It might make the last 10 hours more focussed.

E.g. CPL flying needs a lot of looking out of the window, can you hold height and heading without constant reference to the instruments, can you hold a 60 deg bank turn consistently, can you navigate using a chart instead of skydemon?
