UK PPL Revalidation
 

Hello all
I need to revalidate my UK EASA PPL while in the USA for the first time. I understand the requirements for Revalidation, hence I am getting 1 hour training besides all the other requirements, but not sure if I have to fill a form/application and email or mail to UK CAA. If not, how does the UK CAA know that i have a revalidated PPL?

I will need to verify my license after revalidation with UK CAA an d FAA.

Make sure your one hour is with an EASA instructor (FAA will not do) and remember that only a UK Examiner can sign your licence and the 1119E/1157 form.

The original of the form you choose is sent to the CAA................

Hi, how comes you have to do a revalidation, If you already hold a PPL? I always understood that you only need to do a check ride to stay current and the instructor who takes you up for the check ride will stamp and sign your logbook and licence with the rating revalidation?

Unless I have got it wrong and you're asking about something else?

Excuse the pedantry, but it's not a check ride - just one hour of dual training - and the instructor can only sign if he or she is authorised under EASA to do so. If so authorised the instructor must also ensure you have completed the requisite minimum 12 hours, 6 of which must be PIC, plus at least 12 take offs and landings, all during the second year of the validity.............

To revalidate the rating you must complete the following:
Pass a proficiency check in a single-engine (single-pilot) aeroplane with an examiner. The proficiency check must take place within the 3 months immediately before the rating’s expiry date; or

• 12 hours of flight time in single-engine (single-pilot) aeroplane within the 12 months preceding the rating’s expiry date, including the following:
  • 6 hours as pilot-in-command (PIC)
  • 12 take-offs and landings
  • a training flight of at least 1 hour (or a maximum of three totalling 1 hour) with the same flight instructor or class rating instructor. If you have already completed a proficiency check or skill test in another type or class of aeroplane, you will not have to complete this training flight
