How to prepare for selection
 

I recently went to L3 academy in Southampton for their open day. While I was there they told me that they are replacing their pilot apptitude test system, with a software called cut-e.

I've bought the program sky test, however, I was warned not to use it too much, as I may get so used to it, on the actual selection day, I may struggle with the different program being used by the school.

Other than that, does anyone know any tips which will help me prepare for the pilot apptitude test.

I was given the tip to really show my aviation knowledge in the interview with the school in order to impress them. Does anyone have any other tips in order to help pass the interview.

Hi there, I attended selection in April/May this year and passed.

I've not heard anything about Cut-e replacing PILAPT but, Cut-e will be used during the selection process.

It is true what is said about SkyTest, I bought it and found that its much better to use just to get familiar with whats expected as it looks the same and works the same however, there are subtle but important differences between PILAPT and SkyTest. On the day, I would recommend taking your time with reading the instructions carefully and making use of the practice you'll get before commencing on each component of PILAPT. Be confident in your abilities I'd say!

The interview is you chance to show your passion for aviation, and you'll be asked why you want to be a pilot in order to show this. As well as this, I would recommend thinking about past experiences which involved one or more of the 5 key skills - communication, leadership, team work, situational awareness and decision making - and your feelings during those events.

Remember though, there is a mental (pen and paper no calc) GCSE level maths test which consists of 15 questions done in 15 minutes and a group task as well, both as important to prepare for!

My biggest tip is research and practice - there are tons of cadet blogs whom have posted excellent insights into the selection which are worthwhile reading.

Has anyone heard of aptitude/ vigilance tests named Eagle?
I have been told they are taking place at some selection days, they were described to me as a kind of small scale simulation of flight, changing altitudes, using mental arithmetic for speed, distance and time equations with the following of way-points ??
I've searched previous threads and nothing is coming up on here or the internet.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
