Bucks New Uni Post PPL Modular Reccomendations?

Hi everyone.

I am currently a student at Bucks New Uni studying Air Transport with Commercial Pilot Training. In our first year, we are currently completing our PPLs for June 2018 hopefully at Booker Aviation. Our Second and Third academic years of University requires us to complete just about everything else (we're all aspiring for fATPLs).

Never mind the uni part of the course for now. I along with a handful of other students in the same position as me and want recommendations on where to complete our training. The Uni have recommended where to spend our time (can't hyperlink because i'm new here but you can search the course on the bucks website), but we can't help but feel that it's too expensive. We've tried to research alternatives such as Bartolini, Olympus, Ventum Air, and Smart Aviation, and we'd like to know if its feasible moneywise and job prospect wise to study in these European places as some of the prices they list seem too good to be true when compared to CTC/L3 and CAE OAA.

If we were to go abroad though we were probably thinking of sticking together (5 of us) as we're like-minded and "strength in numbers" I guess? Any help would be appreciated.

Not to do with op but a question, do you have to pay out of pocket for the training or is that covered in the course fee?

BCFT, Bournemouth
Stapleford Flight Centre, Essex
Aeros Flight Training, Gloucester
Multiflight, Leeds

Far cheaper than the ‘big brand’ flight schools, usually more fun, relaxed atmosphere and here’s the best part - you walk out with exactly the same licence!

Go visit them and get a feel for yourself. Good luck :ok:

Have you spoken to the university about this? Have they said you can do this - or do they have a number of existing "training providers". It is NOT an easy or quick job for a university to add new training partners as there are many quality control procedures that have to be followed before this can be done.

Don't forget the US option where almost 40% of European pilots have trained over the last 25-30 years at more than a dozen schools (at the peak before EASA took over) including at the big schools such as CAE/Oxford, L3, CTC in Florida and Arizona. Take a look at:

Pilots Paradise Academy, Sebastian, Florida, UK CAA, EASA and FAA Approved
FIT Aviation, Melbourne, EASA and FAA Approved
EFT, EASA Approved

All three have student visa approval and from looking at one of the websites, offer the full modular option for under $50,000 and have a very good Google and Facebook following with lots of positives.

With Skyborne recently purchasing the FlightSafety Academy facilities in Vero Beach, Florida, it strikes me Florida will be back on the map as the leading training choice for many, as it was several years ago before EASA made it so expensive and difficult to keep overseas approvals.
