Greetings fellow PPRuners.

My question is one I think may have been answered on this site before. similarly, mine is a situation which is also common with a lot of users on here.

I am a healthcare professional, looking to pursue my passion in aviation, via a modular training school in the midlands.

My question is, the life of a pilot. In terms of having a family, which one day I do wish to have, what are the ups and downs of being a pilot, with respect to this?

I would appreciate if someone could outline any differences based on whether I was a pilot based in UK or abroad (middle-east).

Forget it, expect to live out of a suitcase, it seems to be family life or aviation , once you have children, your partner will get sick of moving every couple of years, in order to further your career. That saying being an instructor is pretty stable, you will get pissed of watching your flying school friends fly bigger jets

It's like running away and joining the circus. There are understanding partners out there, though.

What Paco said - you need an understanding partner.

Can't speak for Shorthaul but if you end up on Long haul expect to miss lots of birthdays, Christmases, school plays and sports days. Your other half might understand but it can be tough on the kids.

From what I understand, Flying short-haul you can be home every night. what truth is there to this?

Assuming i'll be okay flying short haul the rest of my life, and my partner is understanding, it should be a viable option right?
