instrument rating in ireland

greetings guys,

when I did my instrument rating in Bournemouth , i took off from Bournemouth and joined the airway and headed for Bristol where I did a single engine ils precision approach and then headed back to Bournemouth , and on the way I did general handling with exam 01 , then proceeded to enter the hold at Bournemouth and then an ndb non precision approach with a go around . that's the uk instrument rating I did many moons ago .I am not currently flying .

my question is how is the I/R test done in Ireland ? cork for example , do you take off from cork head for Shannon and then back to cork . do you fly a certain airway ? or how is it done at Weston in Dublin.?

I was told years ago for the I/R in Ireland you don't have to fly an airway , not sure if any truth in this?
at the moment I am considering renewing my I/r which is lapsed whilst living in Ireland
thanks
