How to Get a Place on an Airline Pilot Training Scheme

Hi,
I found this web site a couple of days ago and have been completely overwhelmed by the volume and quality of information available to wannabes. Great site guys :)

So for my first ever question, I was wondering if anybody had read the book titled "How to Get a Place on an Airline Pilot Training Scheme " by Sam Maybrey? Has this proved to be one of those must have books for wannabes?

Hi Rich,
welcome aboard! Isn't it nice to know you are not alone in this crazy dream of becoming a pilot?! :D

As for the book, it's a little dated in it's info (mid 90's) but the general advice for preparing for interviews and aptitude tests is good. It also will give you an idea about what to expect at interviews. But to be honest your time will probably better used with the search function here on PPRuNe. There's a whole wealth of advice and information here. And if you have any questions just ask - there's bound to be someone here who knows the answer.

Hope this helps.

Good luck,
VTOL
:D

I found the book of absolutely no worth whatsoever. It had little real information, pretty much everything was common sense. The book was short and most was filled with information on some schemes, with less than half of the book devoted to how to actually get on them,

great thanks for the info, that's another £12.95 saved for the self sponsorship route if all else fails :)

Welcome aboard!

RE the book, don't bother, you will find mounds and mounds more info on PPRuNe than in that book, and its free!

Enjoy the site,
Rusty

Hi richH,VTOL,Token Bird, Rusty Cessna
A couple of days ago I found this great site and since I could'nt log in after registering I send an e-mails to a few people here hoping someone could help me out on the BA entrance exam. On the 18th of Sept I'm invited for the exam and now I'm trying to get as much info as possible to be prepared. I found the letter on the selection procedure which is a great help( I hope ), but I could'nt find anything about the Micropad or simulator tests. Since I'm from Germany its really hard to get detailed information. If you can help me out please contact me.

Regards, Kolja
