FAA Testing Center(s) in Europe?
As far as I know there where two FAA (US) testing centers in Europe which provided knowledge tests (written test) outside the US, one in Paris (France) and one in Farnborough (UK) the test were administered by Flight Safety International. Now I have heard that testing is no longer conducted at Pairs, Farnborough is the only testing center left. Was just wondering if there are any people here on the forum who can shed some light on this, or either confirm or deny this?
Thanks! |
The FAA web site still lists both testing centers as of June 15, 2015.

Many thanks for the info, it's very much appreciated!

Farnborough charge £215 for an exam which costs $165 in the US. They also force you to take the exam on a Tuesday afternoon - you have no say in the matter.
Once had to cancel a booking, got confirmation in writing - on the day of the test they called me asking why I hadn't shown up. Talk about abusing their monopoly position. Thoroughly unimpressed. |
If you can get access to either Ramstein AB Germany or RAF Mildenhall UK both education offices are approved FAA testing centers.
It will definately take a call to ask them if they will allow you to test. Also, the US affiliated aeroclub near Frankfurt (formerly at Coleman Barracks) may be able to test... FWIW Lifter |
I did my FAA exams at Farnborough and it went fine for me.
Personally I don't have issues with Tuesdays. :ok: |
