CTC Qatar MPL vs fATPL

Hey,

I just submitted my application for Qatar MPL program with CTC and was wondering if anyone has any advice. I am 21 this year from Singapore. I am not fussy to where I work, eg Doha.

What are your thoughts on this VS a fATPL ab initio.

Did you apply for the Qatar MPL in STAA, Singapore?

Nope, I applied for CTC Qatar MPL.

Am not eligible for STAA as I do not have A levels

Did you not do any research before applying? Surely if you had done due diligence you would have found the huge long thread in the interviews and sponsorship forum about the Qatar MPL and it's merits or lack thereof. You will be working in Doha IF you get onto the course, pay over £100,000 AND complete it to the standard Qatar require.

No-one can give you any real insight into working for Qatar Airways off the CTC MPL as none of them have started line training yet.

My advice - Do some serious research before spending the money on attending selection. Reading the Qatar MPL thread would be a good start. IF you do decide to go along to selection, make a list of questions to ask, don't fall for the marketing hype and show some initiative/intuition in the interview and group exercises. There are plenty of other ways into commercial flying.

Thank you for your kind advice.

Yes, I had read the threat. All of it actually.
However, I do not know that no one has started line training.
Correct me if I'm wrong, so all these years no one has successfully completed the course and had started working for Qatar Airways?

I had and still am doing my research.

I honestly do not see much opportunity to be a commercial pilot in Singapore thus venturing out overseas to explore my options. Like you said, there are many other routes to commercial flying.

I also considered fATPL, however my biggest worry is employment. With a CPL/IR but without enough hours to hold an ATPL, it would be difficult to be with an airliner.

At this stage, just decide if you want to stick to flying or do something else. When you talk about jobs, are there guarantees in other fields such as engineering or commerce:)? I think not.

The way I see it, if you don't enjoy your flying, you haven't flown at all.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.

I understand. I will keep on trying till I sit in a cockpit myself.
