Can anybody with recent experience recommend a schools Europe for competitively priced CPL and single engine IR courses?

So far have contacted Adria, Fly in Spain. PM's welcome

Does it have to be SE? Diamond Flight Academy offers CPL/ME/IR for about €25,500

It's all done ina da42 as well

Thanks for the reply. Ideally single engine IR - looking for cheaper options to lock in the atpl theory whilst I get the money for the ME after working some more.

Some specialist CPL/IR schools don't have IFR singles, its a thin market. You might get a better deal on a twin. Bartolini? Last time I looked a CPL IR there was around €15,000.

Thanks Alex, yes I contacted Bartolini who are booked solid on the Multi until Sept/Nov.

I've contacted F-Air in Prague who offer SE IR training, any experience anyone?

I hear you but here's the deal, you need an MEIR for airline jobs (if that's what you want) and lots of ME time is super beneficial.

I agree, you do not need to dish out 100,000 euros for quality training, but be careful with over emphasising price over quality. This stuff will stay with you forever.

19,000 euros is a fantastic price for cpl/ir anyways! on top of that it's all ME time (which employers like). Or like Alex suggested, other places can have them cheaper (but again, check the quality of training).

Remember, if a school is dirt cheap but the training is rubbish you'll end up paying more anyways because you'll need to fly extra hours to reach a level that will allow you to pass the skills test.

If you want to fly whilst doing your ATPL theory then hour build and work to save up for the courses instead.

Cheap is good, but never sacrifice quality only to save 3-4000 euros. think about it, in the long run, is a small portion of what you're paying overall. Be smart about it.

Edit: (BTW Alex is the director at BGS, best distance learning school for ATPL imho, talk to him)

Hi funky,

Thanks for the thoughts - just that the ME is a bit out of my reach at the moment, and I'd just like to lock in the atpl theory, which I've got. Then gives me a bit longer to get the multi and makes for a cheaper IR renewal next year. I'm not in a rush to get it all done, not yet! Just like to keep some money in the bank for life's other eventualities.

Agree with everything you've said regarding training though. Cheers.

Bartolini Air, 15,500 with fees included and training is top notch quality. The MEP you would be Flying is a Tecnam P2006T. Tecnam planes are fun to fly as well.

Why are you trying to do CPLIR before the ATPL theory is done anyways? It wouls be much better to get he theory done first and then crack on with the flight training. This way you'll defo have that money cushion you want, since it'll give you time to save up :-)

chibuku 29th Apr 2015 21:21

Hi Funky, already have the theory :) RedBull already contacted Bartolini, cheers.

Hi chibuku,

Did you managed to get any where? I am also considering Bartolini Air.

Would you (if you've been there) or anyone out there recommend Bartolini Air for international students (non EU).

Please PM me..Thanks very much all.

Get the SE IR in a school that provides the CBIR route. Here you can go for 25 hours in a sim and 15 in plane. Or get someone with an IRI/FIIR rating to fly with you for 30 hours and do the remaining 10 at an ATO.
Her in DK you get a full CBIR at an ATO for about EUR 13K
After that find a school that provides CPL(maybe the same one). Then you can deduct 10 hours from the program because you have IR. Forget about ME for now. Way to expensive. But of course needed if you want to work in airlines 😉

Thanks lasseb, good advice. Lots to think on. :ok:
