CTC for MCC/JOC (AQC hold pool)

I already have my CPL-ME-IR and I'm deciding where to do my MCC/JOC.

One of the options I'm considering is CTC. They offer an Airline Qualification Course (AQC) which combines the MCC/JOC, and after completion I would be able to join the AQC hold pool. This is the hold pool for CTC's modular students too. I realise that this pool is separate (and "second priority") from the cadets, but it might still give me some options compared with training elsewhere. Training at CTC is more expensive than other schools though.

I'm really interested in anyone who has experience with these courses or modular candidates in the AQC hold pool.

1. Has anyone in the modular/AQC hold pool been placed? How long were they in the pool?

2. Has anyone done their MCC/JOC/AQC training with CTC? What were the positives and negatives?

Posts on here or PMs are both very welcome.

Have a look at this thread. I suggest you start reading from page 33 up until the end so that you're aware of the prospects with CTC and their ATP Database. There has been little to no movement over the last 3 years.

I don't think they allow you to do theAQC these days unless you've done the MEP CPL MEIR with them. I'm pretty sure they specify it on their website somewhere. Unless it has changed recently which I doubt.

Hi Bearcat_F8F, it has changed - it is possible to join the AQC database without having completed CPL-ME-IR at CTC.

Make sure you pay extra for the hype.

The bigger the shoal the harder it is to pick out any individual fish.

Is there really any advantage to be gained from paying to join an increasingly large shoal, particularly when getting fish picked from that the shoal isn’t even the top priority for CTC.

It looks to me like the decision to relax the entry criteria is simply a ploy to get more students onto the MCC/JOC. But then I'm not a fish.

If CTC charged the same price you could say why not, you never know. Even if they charged just a small amount more then you could maybe justify it "just in case you get lucky". However when I looked into this myself a number of years ago they were charging 4x more than what I paid for my MCC and JOC course, and frankly that £xxxx is better spent/saved elsewhere.
