How long does it take on average to sit all 14 exams?
Hi all,
I'm just curious, what's the average length of time it takes to sit all 14 EASA ATPL exams? Has anyone had any problems with not getting them done in the required time period? |

If you do a residential groundschool course, it will take you 6 months, plus another two months for any retakes.
If you go distance learning the average is around 18 months, although plenty of people do it a lot quicker, it depends if you're doing it on top of a full time job. The distance learning guys will be up against the time limit a lot more. The residential guys can still have problems with the minimum number of sittings if they start failing. |
I'm based in Australia , I started mine just over 6 months ago , I've passed 8 exams and made 1 trip to the UK for the residential course , I go to Malaysia to sit the exams .
I'm a touring pilot so I get 2 week blocks off , so I would say 13 months from start to finish |
I have completed mine in 7 months becoz of 1 retake.I did residential groundschool. It can be easily done in 6!

One day, No. @ flyboyUK2003: "how long it takes to sit all 14 exams". Well, to my knowledge there is a time limit, once you started taking/sitting the first exam(s) then you have 18 month to take and pass the remaining subjects. |
