Best Pilot Aptitude Apps

Hi guys,

Just wondering if anyone could recommend the best pilot aptitude practice apps particularly for maths and physics questions expected at second stage interview stage. Are there any with instructions on on how to do the equations etc? It's been a while since I opened my school pencil case...

Do you mean an app that covers the subjects covered by these books?

SkyTest - Maths and Physics
SkyTest - Interview Preparation

By the way, by the term app I thought you were referring to mobile devices apps, but if you were talking about Windows based PC software, SkyTest products may interest you.

Hi RedBull,

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I have seen a few adverts (some on pprune) giving links to Ipad/Android Apps that seem to offer downloadable software covering the books you mention.

I often work better from digital sources so wanted to get some feedback from people who may have bought them.

I only know SkyTest, so I guess it's time to disable my Ad blocker on PPRuNe:hmm:

Ha, thanks :ok:

Have you used this before? I particularly would like to know if the maths section gives you step by step instructions on how to figure the questions out.

No, I haven't but I am planning on buying some books and software from them in future. I heard that the book on mental math isn't worth buying but I think I am gonna buy it anyway. There are still other resources to improve your mental maths skills like the video series by The Great Courses (The Secrets of Mental Math | The Great Courses) which I got for free... :oh: And MathTutorDVD should also have something related to mental math.
Glad2Teach which I also got for free... :oh:
And the YouTube channel tecmath.

Speaking of pilot aptitude resources, you may also give a look at Latest Pilot Jobs. They have a section dedicated to Compass Test and one dedicated to other pilot aptitude tests. You have to pay for a membership.

You've been a huge huge help, it's really appreciated.

Many thanks!

I'm aware that both CockpitWeb.com and PilotAptitudeTest.com have a substantial amount of questions available on Maths and Science questions.

CockpitWeb.com have Numerapt? It may be a bit outdated for you, but to be quite frank, maths and science questions have always remained the same so shouldn't be an issue. You've gotta install this on a PC I believe.
The 'Numerapt' app is fairly expensive, but CockpitWeb have been around for years.

PilotAptitudeTest.com have a demo video on YouTube that shows how they display their explanations to their questions also, which looks very promising, a simple search for 'pilot aptitude test' will yield the results you are looking for.
It would appear that they also have an iPad App, and from reading their FAQ, the questions seem to be based very accurately on the real-life counterparts.

Lastly, when I studied for a PILAPT test, I used a product by a company called FlightLevel360 Software (if I remember correctly) which included maths practice, although not sure if they are still around, again, a search for this will yield results.

To be quite frank, I have used LatestPilotJobs.com in the past specifically for the maths questions when preparing for airline assessments, and whilst the quality of questions are good, they could do with upping the quantity.

Also strongly recommend heading to your local library, given the questions used for Maths and Science testing are fairly uniform across the board when it comes to job applications. There are specific books for these, and a large variety available. Plus, borrowing books from a library are free.

**Edited to Include: How about the OAA Maths CD-Rom? Not sure if available in App Format, but worth a try.*
